The eagles stunned Hitchin with a battling display to earn a draw against the Canaries in front of a crowd of 124 people.
The Eagles stunned the home crowd with a goal after 18 minutes, Rob Groves hitting left foot shot past mark Bennett from 20 yards.
Zak Burke went close for Hitchin on the half hour when he blasted wide after good work by Ieuan Lewis.
Three minutes before the interval the Canaries equalised when a low daisy cutter of a shot from Callum Donnelly found its way into the net via a deflection off eagles centre back Luke Garwood.
The second half was not much different from the first but John Frendo and Zak Burke both had early chances to score for Hitchin, the latter denied by a goalline clearance by Lewis Mitchell.
Hitchin did have a chance to go ahead in the 67th minute when they won a penalty, but a tame effort from ex eagle Harry Holland was easily saved by Dan Eely.
Jamie Osbourne hit a post and Ryan Adam shot into the side netting as Hitchin pressed , but the eagles held out for a well earned draw and could have won if a good shout for a penalty decision had gone their way
