A much anticipated opening game of the season all the boys arrive early and warm up well and have an air of confidence about them and ready to face a team they have not played before. After a brief team talk the boy’s line up with the sun shining ready for kick off. Hemel take the centre and it is not long before the boys realise they are facing a strong pacey team. The boys start slowly but put some good passes and slick movement together, just as it looks as we are getting up to speed with a tricky opposition we get hit on the break twice conceding 2 goals. Eagles show true spirit and don’t drop their heads and fight back with a promising last 15 minutes of the first half.
Half time 2 nil down
After a rallying half time team talk and some good input from the boys on our strategy for the second half they line up and Eagles take the centre. With renewed belief we put in a great first 10 minutes and look the more dangerous and believe they can pull back the deficit. Hemel, as they have done all game break quickly and hit us with some clinical finishing netting a 3rd which knocks the stuffing out of the Eagles fight back. Without a doubt this was the game changer Hemel seize the opportunity and pile on the pressure, our defence and keeper rally and defend bravely but with all the early hard work from our midfield covering every blade of grass and a few injuries there is not a lot left in the tank which results in us conceding 3 more goals, the forwards have worked tirelessly all day but have not got the breaks they deserved and the game ends 6 nil to
Lots of positives from this and some good individual performances well done Eagles against a good Hemel side and as their coach said the score was a bit flattering considering how well you all did.
