17-09-11 Wormley Reserves v Letchworth GCE Reserves

The Eagles travelled to Wormley who had a very young side but it was the youngsters that took the lead after 6 minutes the ball was given away cheaply and then everybody stopped and watched as Wormley went on to score. This was first goal the reserves had let in this season. How would we respond? Letchworth responded well with 12 shots on target in the next half hour but could not find the net. During this period Letchworth very own Ugandan (James Adide) kept the score at 1-0 with a great double save. Letchworth’s 13th shot was not unlucky when Joe Della Salle found the bottom corner with a free kick on edge of box.

The game continued to be dominated by the Eagles in the 2nd half and in the 53rd Darrin Buttigieg passed a good ball to Drackford who set up his strike partner Della Salle for 2-1. In the 61st minute Ben antcliffe made a great run and crossed in for Della Salle to complete his hat trick (the goal could have been an own goal but the dubious goals panel met in Iggys car on the way home and after watching the replay Tench,Iggy and Trev gave the goal to Joe). With 12 minutes to go it was 4-1 that man Della Salle again. This time Jack Edwards with the assist 5 minutes after coming on deja vu from last week. Goal number 5 was scored by you know who by now after Drackford set up in 88th min. The best goal came shortly afterwards with a great overhead kick and therefore a double hat trick by Della Salle.

The Eagles had 30 shots on goal in this game and should have scored a lot more. Also I forgot to mention miss of the season or any other season for that matter by Jake Tyler 3 yards out. Hopefully Joe will give Jake some shooting practice after school in the back garden this week.

Next week will be a good test when the Reserves are at home to Hinton who lost league on last day of season last season having won it the previous season.
