Last seasons div 2 champions started their first season in division one with a tricky away tie against a team that only lost 6 games in finishing fourth last season. Eagles had 6 players in squad making their reserves debuts and did the club proud alongside the established players. Dan Goad back after a long break due to injury kept a clean sheet helped by a strong back four of Breed,Watson,Tyler and man of the match Hillard.
The midfield was lead by Lawrence “the beast ” Allard and captain Ben Antcliff was given a free role. John Scott had an impressive debut along side Nick Consigli.
With Danny Large working hard up front with the fox in the box Jay Drackford. Drackford was the hero calmly taking his goal with 20 minutes to go.
Shortly after a Chipperfield player was booked and he decided to walk off the pitch leaving his team with ten men.
Debuts in this game where also given to Buttigieg and Edwards. The only down point was the injury after twenty minutes to Ryan Finan making his debut at 17, but hopefully it is only short term and he will be back pulling the strings in the middle of the park.
