Eagles go Large
With a number of changes due to players going into first team and Jan going with first team also today was going to be a tough match and so it proved with a well organised Sarret team.
The first 20 mins passed by with not much happening. The game was that boring that Jimmy fell asleep in goal and when a tame shot hit target Jimmy threw ball into the back of net. In post match interview all Jimmy could say was “my mind was elsewhere.”
The goal woke the Eagles up and they started to pepper the Sarret goal. Creating 6 chances in ten minute period. It was the 6th chance that got the Eagles level. A Jake Tyler free kick found De La Salle head and the goal machine got his 11th goal in 4 games.
Five minutes later De La Salle back heel found his strike partner Large and Eagles went in 2-1 up at half time.
Seven minutes into the second half a accidental clash of heads saw a visting player cut his lip open and taken to hospital (at time of writing my email into his welfare has not been replied to). The game was delayed for ten minutes for treatment.
Eagles had plenty of chances to put the game to bed but failed to convert any of 7 chances created.
With 8 minutes to go Eagles paid the ultimate price for missed chances when the visitors levelled the score. With two minutes left of game Danny Large popped up with the winning goal to keep the 100% start to the season intact.
Next week the league leaders travel to 5 placed Bovingdon 2.30 ko. No game at Pixmore this week
