Two weeks ago we get whether warnings telling us to expect snow in October and here we are in the first week of the month playing a match in thirty degree heat, it just shows that football can be as unpredictable as the whether. The boys kick off the game away to the Spitfires and settle in quickly with some fluid passing and quick attacks which pays off with a well struck goal from Quinlan putting the boys 1-0 up. Spitfires are far from out of the game and keep the pressure on but Eagles look solid at the back and some good work by Elliott, the midfield control the tempo and the hard work by the forwards so as to create plenty of chances to go further ahead.
Half time 1-0 Eagles
Spitfires kick off and fight hard to get back into the game and carved out a speculative equaliser from midfield with a shot and a miss judged bounce to bring the score to 1-1. Its end to end now with both sides creating a lot of chances and the heat taking its toll on both sides, Spitfires win a corner and a good cross sees the ball sailing straight into the net without anyone having a chance to clear it 2-1 Spitfires. Eagles behind for the first time in the game with six minutes to go, the coach decides to go for it and switches to three at the back and pack the midfield, which starts to work seeing us create chance after chance but we can not capitalise. The heat really has taken its toll and there is just nothing left in the tank and Spitfires counter with two attacks and score both times.
Full Time 4-1 Spitfires
Well done boys a tough game now its back to the training ground.
