Letchworth made the trip to Bovingdon looking to make it 6 wins out of 6 for the season. Our hosts where determined to be first team to beat us and took the lead after 15 mins. A run down the left wing and a pin point cross gave the Bovingdon forward a free header and made no mistakes. The cross was made a bit easier as Breed was blocked off from putting a tackle in but ref did not see the incident. Jake Tyler was booked for his protests.
In the 29th minute Billy Joe Sewell made a defence splitting pass to Danny Large who finished superbly to put Eagles back on level terms. The Eagles now stepped up a gear and created 6 chances before half time.
Jan got into the lads at half time and told them we need to get at them again early in the second half and the players obliged getting a goal seconds into the half a Danny Large flick to Drackford who gave the Eagles the lead. Moments later Bovingdon had half hearted penalty appeal. In 55th minute they hit the bar with great strike from 30 yards.
In 67th minute it was Large’s turn to hit the bar. The only other talking point was Jack Gregson’s sending off with 5 minutesto go. In the view of all watching it looked somewhat harsh. The challenge was very similar to Jack Rodwell’s last weekend and the ref gave Red card very quickly and possibly could have counted to ten and maybe a yellow would have been fairer. If Greggo played the part of Rodwell then the Bovingdon guy was Suarez who got up with no treatment required!.
Final score Bovingdon 1 Letchworth Res 2
