With the postponement of the first game Eagles included a number of first team players in this game to recover match fitness, against a third string Baldock. Eagles eventually ran out 6-0 winners and could have scored more.
For the first 15 minutes neither side really threatened or worked the keepers with Baldock getting the first shot on target from the edge of the penalty area which keeper Gilbert turned round the post at full stretch.
Den Crook almost scored a surprise goal from a 40 yard out free kick which went narrowly wide, but after 20 minutes Eagles went ahead with a well worked goal and interchange of passes on the left which left Mitch Cox clear on goal to pass the ball into the net from 10 yards. Further chances came eagles way before they scored 2 quick goals just before half time. First Jamie Farrar fired home a cross from the left and then a shot from Luke Shimell from 15 yards out took a deflection off a defender and into the net, giving the keeper no chance.
After half time Eagles continued to press Baldock back and Jamie Platt almost scored the most bizzare goal of the season when he charged down a clearance by a Baldock defender. The ball looped high into the air and looked to be dropping into the net, but it bounced on the line and was cleared for a corner. That corner was then firmly headed into the net by Den Crook from a few yards out.
After 65 minutes sub Lewis Curtis outpaced chasing Baldock defenders down the centre of the field to place a shot wide of the advancing keeper, who parried the ball but could not stop it trickling into the net.
Baldock defended desperately, defenders hacking the ball off the goal line and succeeding in keeping the score unchanged until Luke Shimell was felled in the penalty area. Nico Consigli blazed the ball high over the Baldock bar from the penalty.
Shimell then shot over the bar when well placed before a fine pass from Ricky Small put Curtis clear on goal. The striker did not hesitate , outpacing defenders and scoring with a low shot wide of the keeper.
