On 21 August on a bright sunny day Darren Sarll , manager of Stevenage Fc, opened the new bar and lounge facility at Eagles home ground, attended by a large number of parents, supporters and players. Darren played for theclub as a junior and his father ran an eagles team for a number of years. Other guests included representatives from Herts FA, and organisations helping to fund the cost of £125k, including local County Councillors, Barratt Homes and Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation. The principal funders were the Football Foundation and the Football Stadia Improvement Fund.
Chairman Tony Eden thanked all those who had helped with the project including main contractor Danny Ryan of JC Parker Installations and Altro Flooring and Wentworth Kitchens who donated materials for the flooring and kitchen fitting.
Tony said that the new lounge will offer a great opportunity for the club to attract new players , as well as providing an income producing opportunity and a venue for players , parents and supporters to relax on match days.
A festival for club mini soccer teams was organised for the day, enabling a large number of junior players and parents to view the new facility.
The club are now looking for a company or individuals to run the new bar and lounge.
