HERTS SENIOR COUNTY LEAGUE RESERVE SECTION
After an even first half Eagles piled on the pressure in the second half to emerge comfortable winners .
Eagles centre forward Deckland Brown was always in the action and in the first ten minutes he almost forced the ball in the net from close range but for a good blocking save by the visiting keeper. He did find the net with a low shot into the corner on the half hour.
Lemsford counter attacked and were unlucky to see a low shot fizz past a post when Eagles defence failed to clear a corner. Ben Farrar then had a great chance to put Eagles further ahead when unmarked near the penalty spot, but he headed wide. Kadeem Gutzmore was a constant threat on the left wing and one surging run ended with a low shot which went wide of the far post.
Lemsford then equalised with a shot from inside the penalty area into the roof of the net, but Eagles restored their lead just before half time when Farrar played the ball into the path of Brown who blasted it into the net from just inside the penalty area.
After half time Brown almost got his hat trick at the end of a flowing move down the wing by Gutzmore but his low shot was well saved by the keeper. Eagles then lost concentration and a poor back pass from Dan Hobson went straight to an unmarked Lemsford player who scored easily.. Almost from the kick off Eagles regained the lead when Gutzmore scored easily from near to the penalty spot after receiving a pass from Brown. Lemsford tired and Farrar slotted the ball into the net after another surging run and cross by Gutzmore.
Lemsford missed a great chance to score with a shot from inside the penalty area but the ball was screwed well wide of the Eagles goal. This spurred Eagles into action and when Brown dribbled his way through a fragile defence his pass to Gutzmore was converted with a shot from close range, giving the keeper no chance to save.
A comfortable victory on the night helping Eagles to climb towards the top of the league table.
