THE YELLOWS ARE LOOKING FOR THE NEXT JOHN TERRY OR A BUDDING RIO FERDINAND

Due to a desire to strengthen our squad, The Yellows (under 13 – School Year 8 from September 08) are looking for one or two defensive players to play in the Royston Crow Division One next season. Players must have proven ability to compete at this level and anyone interested should contact Terry Morris at terrymorris@sky.com with a brief footballing history. If you are five foot ten and faster than Christiano Ronaldo, then all the better!!!

A new Eagles senior side is born

On 11 June the Herts Senior County League agreed that a new adult side called Letchworth Garden City Eagles FC be admitted to division 1 of the league for the 2008/9 season with a reserve side playing in reserve section division 2. For the first time for some years Letchworth will at last have a senior adult side representing the town, playing at Pixmore and managed by Roy Boon, a well known manager and coach in North Hertfordshire, latterly in charge at Langford FC.

Roy is anxious to meet new players, and the first training session for the new teams will be held at the Baldock Road recreation Ground on 9 July at 7.30 pm. This will be followed by a tour of the facilities at Pixmore where showers will be available and Roy will give a talk on our vision for the future.

This could be the start of a major revival of senior football in the town and will offer an exit route for Eagles youth players once they have finished playing for the junior club.

Contact Roy on 07977905837 for more information

New coaches and managers wanted

Volunteers are urgently required to run or help to run Eagles teams next season. No previous experience is required just lots of enthusiasm and common sense. The club will pay for you to study for the FA level 1 coaching qualification, which will be a requirement . It will also provide coaching support, training resources and help with administration. We particularly need adult volunteers to run teams in the lower age groups from under 7 to under 10.

If you are interested please contact Kevin Cottle or Tony Eden.

Billy Wingrove wows the Eagles

The Eagles Awards Evenings at the Plinston Hall Letchworth on 3 and 5 June were entertained by faultless exhibitions of ball skills by Billy Wingrove, the well known international football freestylist. Billy also presented awards to over 450 boys and girls, and cup and league trophies to winners of Royston Crow and Herts Home Counties Girls league competitions over the past season. The club also celebrated its success in reaching the under 12 County Cup Final, and being the losing finalist in 3 Royston Crow league cup finals in 11 a side competitions. The hall was packed both nights with players and proud parents, and over £800 was raised for club funds.

Eagles Season Successes

Eagles u11 Yellows cup final - On a glorious sunny morning the Letchworth Garden City Eagles (Yellows) Under 11's met to take them to their first 11-a-side cup final, in their first season playing 11-a-side football; a commendable achievement in itself.

Eagles u12 blues top the Royston Crow under 12 division 1 and were losing finalists in the Herts County Cup and Royston Crow League Cup competitions this year.

Under 17 Yellows Cup Final - This was always going to be a tough game for the Eagles up against the Hitchin Academy team.

On a very hot and sunny morning in Great Hormead, the U10 Blues cruised to another win and collected the three points that made them the League A winners for 2007-8.

Eagle’s girls league two champions - The under 14 girls have done it again, winning the league twice now in the last three years.
