Eagles Seniors - 08/09 Season

Manager Roy Boon and assistant manager Jason Valentine have set themselves the task of getting the Letchworth Eagles promotion to Herts Senior County League Premier division in their first season. Both are experienced coaches and are delighted with the progress made so far. They are still looking for new players with the right blend of skill and experience, particularly former Eagles boys, so contact Roy on 07977905837 for details of training nights.

Reserves
On 11 June the Herts Senior County League agreed that a new adult side called Letchworth Garden City Eagles FC be admitted to division 1 of the league for the 2008/9 season with a reserve side playing in reserve section division 2. For the first time for some years Letchworth will at last have a senior adult side representing the town, playing at Pixmore and managed by Roy Boon, a well known manager and coach in North Hertfordshire, latterly in charge at Langford FC.
This could be the start of a major revival of senior football in the town and will offer an exit route for Eagles youth players once they have finished playing for the junior club.

Eagles triumph over league leaders!
Saturday 15 November will go down as a red letter day for Jason Valentine, managing the team in the absence of Roy Boon.
Chipperfield, top of league division 1 having dropped only one point, and Eagles needing a result after successive defeats. The Eagles team never stopped running and fighting every ball, and ran out 1-0 winners!
Things were pretty even for the first 15 minutes but then Eagles went ahead with a magnificent goal from Jaz Genesis who turned several Chipperfield defenders with a mazy dribble before finding the net with a crisp low shot.
Chipperfield responded with throwing everything at the Eagles defence, which stood firm thanks to some heroic defending by Danny Large and Kev Patterson, and some great saves from goalie Dan Goade, who is clearly now back to top form after a long spell out of the game with injury.
Eagles squeaked into half time holding the lead, and then stood sustained pressure through the second half, responding with some fast breakaways to keep the Chipperfield defence alert.
Chipperfield goalie Tim Piper made a wonderful save in the last 15 minutes to turn a goal bound header over the bar, and then it was the turn of Eagles players and supporters to panic when a Chipperfield forward chased a long ball down the centre of the pitch, outpaced Eagles defenders and placed the ball wide of Dan Goade. A goal looked inevitable as the ball travelled towards the net, but then Danny Large somehow managed to race back and clear the ball for a corner not more than a foot from the goal line.
That was about the end of the action. Eagles deserved their win for sheer perspiration but also some nice passing movement from time to time and sheer gutsy defendingThanks to our Sponsors
