BSCFC Rovers 3 - LGCE U12 Yellows 2 - 27/09/2009
Another good performance and another game which was lost due to sheer misfortune. The Yellows continue to be the unluckiest team in the Royston Crow, with 3 times as many chances as their opponents it was a freak own goal that decided this fixture.
The Rovers started the better, with some lapses in concentration from the midfield and defence allowing them time to pick their shots and despite some outstanding saves from Hazrie, they had earned their 2 goal lead. However when after 15 minutes a very late challenge from the Rovers midfield left Morgan down injured, Brandon came on and showed why he is so dangerous, having only been on the pitch 2 minutes he was already creating chances. After 21 minutes a brilliant build up between him and Ryan lead to a calm finish into the bottom corner, with the keeper unable to do anything but help it on its way into the net. 2 -1 and the Eagles were suddenly in charge, creating a dozen chances in the last 9 minutes of the first half.
The second half started off as the first had ended, with Matt replacing Rohitha in central defence, Tom on for Kealen up front and Morgan back at right back for Simon. Despite non stop chances for the first 10 minutes, a quick break by the Rovers led to the decider, with a cross from the right coming in fast to a box filled with attackers, We were stretched and despite somehow managing to get a foot on it, such was our luck though that this only lead in into our own net. It was entirely undeserved and on any other day that would have been a fantastic clearance. Despite the goal the 2nd half continued as it had, with a constant threat from the Eagles eventually resulted in another goal (which I apologise I can't remember the details, if one of the boys could fill me in at training I will update this to be more accurate), 3-2 was the final result, and yet another game which was ours for the taking.
MOM : Brandon – Totally ran the game both up front and on the right wing, and was so unlucky not to score his second in the dying minutes,
Special mention also goes to Henry and Matt, both of whom played outstanding games and on any other day would have the honours themselves. Great game guys. Well done. .
U12 Yellows 1 – Hormead Hares Blacks 6 13/09/2009
With the Eagles still trying to find their rhythm In their first season together, Sunday served as a great example of how harsh football can be. Despite conceding after only 30 seconds, the Eagles ran the first half with a whole host of chances either skimming the outside of the post, or being turned away by the keepers fingertips. Today, it seemed, would not be our day. It was only after we had gone 3-0 down that Lady luck finally decided to aid our cause, after a brilliant ball over the top from our midfield Ryan turned his marker and was through on goal once more, but had his shot well saved by the seemingly unbeatable Hormead goalkeeper, however the ball bounced out to Kealen on the right side of the box, who took his chance and calmly placed the ball into the far corner. The Eagles were in business.
The second half continued in the same fashion as the first, with the Eagles providing the Hormead defence with plenty to worry about. However, this left us vulnerable to the counter-attack, and the Hares showed that there is no substitute for experience, as they took advantage of their few chances to earn the 3 points. The entire Eagles team gave an outstanding performance, with Hazrie making some unbelievable saves. This game showed that the wins are surely closer than we had even dared to hope.
MOM : Hazrie – made some great saves, and was unlucky to concede at all.
