Eagles 4-0 Mill End Sports
The Eagles maintained their winning streak by comfortably beating an over physical Mill End Sports at Pixmore, although most of the goals were squeezed into the first and last quarters of the game.
Eagles opened brightly and within the first 10 minutes were ahead with a goal from Ozwin Williams, on loan from Hitchin, who finished a neat move . Eagles then lost their way after play maker Ben L’Honore had to limp off following a crunching illegal challenge, and it was Mill End Sports who offered the greatest threat. After 20 minutes Dan Goad made an excellent save low down just inside his right post from a glancing header from an excellent right wing cross that left an unmarked Mill Sports attacker with an open goal to aim for. Within the next ten minutes Mill End Sports had fashioned another good chance which was put wide of the post with only Dan Goad to beat. At half time eagles were perhaps lucky to go in 1-0 ahead, having been handed some rough treatment by over physical opponents.
Second half followed the pattern of the first with few chances being created by either side until after 70 minutes when Hunter Diack scored a clinical goal from 15 yards after been put through on goal. In the last 10 minutes Mill End Sports tired after been reduced to 10 men, as the referee finally began to punish some blatant bad challenges. Eagles played their best football during this period. Mitchell Cox scored an emphatic penalty following a foul in the penalty area then wrapped it up with fine free kick about 30 yards out. Mill End committed yet another foul just to the left of centre outside the penalty area and Cox floated the ball sweetly into the top left corner of the net.
Eagles will go into the next game at Belstone full of confidence , although they will be missing several key players because of holiday commitments.
