On a heavy pitch a strong Eagles team struggled to make headway against a resilient Standon side who tired as the game continued.
Eagles had an early scare after 15 minutes when Dan Goad was forced to gather the ball under pressure from an advancing Standon forward but the home team went ahead 5 minutes later with a great shot from the edge of the penalty area which gave the keeper no chance . Mykee Wooding- Acquart spurned a great chance when clear on the keeper but Eagles finally equalised when Jamie Platt calmly potted the ball over the advancing keeper when put clear on goal .
Christian Grindal should have scored before half time when he ran through a retreating Standon defence only to shoot wide of the post with only the keeper to beat, and eagles came to rue the miss when Standon scored again on the stroke of half time. A lofted ball over a static eagles defence allowed a Standon forward to run clear and chip the ball over the head of the advancing Goad.
In the second half play switched from end to end with both side having good chances to score. Both teams hit the cross bar from distance and eagles had most of the play in the final quarter as Standon tired. Finally Eagles equalised 10 minutes from time when sub Ali Reid passed the ball into an empty net after a cross from sub Jordan Hammond evaded Standon defenders. Hammond had a great chance to score the winner on the stroke of time when he blazed a cross from the right just over the bar from a couple of yards out.
