QUARTER FINAL HERTS CHARITY SHIELD
Despite having a player sent off in the first quarter of an hour of the game Tring from the premier division of the Spartan South Midland League rode their luck in the first half, and in the second half were clearly the better side to win the game.
Eagles started brightly and River Amis- Robinson was clear on goal when cynically brought down outside the penalty area. His opponent was sent off for denying a clear goal scoring opportunity but it only seemed to spur the visitors on to greater efforts. Just before half time Eagles conceded a sloppy goal due to a misunderstanding between skipper Michael Payne and keeper Luke Mole, allowing their opponent to push the ball into the net. Eagles had several chances to score, but they failed to make them count
After half time Eagles continued to play decent football without creating many chances in the final third, and they were punished by 3 goals resulting from fast moves out of defence down the flanks and clinical finishing. Joe Tyler did manage to poke home the ball from close range in the final minute of added time, by way of a consolation in a game already lost.
